the one-seven: Happy 9/17!

Happy 9/17! This playlist commemorating 9/17 is pretty simple: nine songs with a nine somewhere in the title, one song with a one, and seven songs with a seven.

Be sure to tune into 91.7 today to see how KOOP and our sister station KVRX are both celebrating the day on the air, online, and in person at Spider House Ballroom as we co-host Radio Field Day.

the one-seven: Happy Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15th marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month here in the States. Its start in the middle of one month and its spanning halfway into the next makes this particular heritage month unique from most others, but it was by design. Once Hispanic Heritage Week became Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15th remained the start date to recognize that 9/15 and the next few days served as anniversaries for many Spanish-speaking countries in the Americas winning independence from Spain.

From rock to pop to jazz and more, musicians of Hispanic descent have played a vital role in almost every genre enjoyed in nearly every part of the world and continue to inspire new generations of musicians and performers. This one-seven playlist features some of the many performers of Hispanic descent who were born in Texas or have called/now call Texas home.

the one-seven EP: Ring in the 4th With Willie

This one-seven playlist features those who will perform at this year’s Picnic. This time around, Nelson will be joined by Allison Russell, Asleep at the Wheel, Brothers Osborne, Charley Crockett, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Midland, Particle Kid, Steve Earle & the Dukes, and Tyler Childers.
