Calling all cosmic travelers looking to hitch a ride on chill, upbeat, ambient vibes. Voyager brings you on a journey through a mix of jazz, experimental indie, psychedelic rock, library music, folktronica, fourth world, chillout, found sound, and more. Expect occasional diversions into weird rock, freaky fusion, and lo-fi outsider territory.
In 1977, NASA launched twin probes into deepest space, each bearing a message for whatever intelligent life it might encounter there: a gold record embossed with the sounds of life on Earth. The record included greetings in dozens of languages, recorded bird- and whale-song, and 60 minutes of human music from around the world—our planet’s greatest hits. The name of that mission was “Voyager.”
In April 2022, Honest John (self-proclaimed “star/navel-gazer”) took Voyager on her maiden trip with acid folk, funk, soul, and jazz, establishing the eclectic mix we have come to expect. Though John’s trajectory has turned away from KOOP, DJs Lou, Alex, and MB take turns at the helm with Honest John providing monthly mixtapes and keeping track of the KOOP shows on MixCloud. Everyone in the collective curates their own unique shows, so tune in weekly to hear something new.
