KOOP Radio’s Graveside Service teams up with The Austin Séance for our third collaboration on Sunday November 1, 2026 7:30PM. We’ll return to the spooky Pony Shed at the Vortex for an evening encounter with the ethereal. All proceeds from this event benefit KOOP Radio.
An Austin Séance experience is unique, intriguing and fun. Jake Cordero begins with an overview of Spiritualism going back to its roots in the 19th Century. We learn about the scams, scandals, and debunkers.but also about inexplicable events at some of these early séances. Albert Lucio then dims the lights and begins to create an environment suitable for visitations. In this darkened setting, the audience enters into a collective near meditative state. Albert taps a small bell and encourages visitation while walking around the Pony Shed. Though there is no guarantee of a visitation, the experience is fun and informative.
The Pony Shed at the Vortex is small and intimate. A piece of furniture called a Spirit Closet dominates the room. The Spirit Closet has a chair and is large enough to hold an individual who may experience a ghostly encounter while inside.
At our first collaboration in 2016, it is possible that we had a visit. In an audience participation section of the séance, someone wrote the question “are you still mad at me?”. When this was read aloud by Albert, a table in the back of the room was loudly upset, startling all of us, including Jake and Albert.
