Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, August 30, 8-10pm) include Pink Floyd, We the People, Trevor White, Kraftwerk, Tommy Rock, Cynics, The Clean, Les Bellas, La Sécurité, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: “Die Mensch-Maschine” (The Man-Machine), released in 1978 on Kling Klang Records, was Kraftwerk’s 7th studio album and represented a move to a club friendlier sound. It peaked at #53 in the UK Album Charts, but reached #9 in 1982 after one its songs, “Das Modell” (The Model), was rereleased as a single. The artwork for the front and back covers was done by Karl Klefisch and was inspired by the work of Soviet artist El Lissitzky.

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): The Monsters were a longtime garage punkabilly band based in Bern, Switzerland. Formed in the late 80s they released numerous albums and singles up until 2022. Front man, guitarist, vocalist and owner of Voodoo Rhythm Records Reverend Beat-Man is still performing and is now on tour on the West Coast. “I Just Wanna Die,” a growling thrasher showcasing Beat-Man’s guitar prowess ends with a sonic two-minute Sabbath-worthy jam. It appeared in 1995 on the “Youth Against Nature” album on the Record Junkie label. Listen to it here:
