Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, January 20, 8-10pm) include the Monkees, Giorgio Moroder, Roxy Music, The Last, Split Enz, Shoes, Plastics, Wedding Present, Mummies, Muffs, Sixteen Deluxe, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: The Mummies, the preeminent lo-fi garage punk band from San Bruno, CA, released three singles in 1990, including the not so subtle “Shitsville” EP on Regal Select Records. It was released in successive pressings and featured the same design (possibly by Mark Dramis?) but in different color schemes, including this blue and black on white version. The photos on the front and back are by Planet Pimp Records owner Sven-Erik Geddes. (Click on image to enlarge)

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): De Stijl were a Swedish garage rock band active in the early 00s. They released two full length albums a few singles. “Go!” is an up-tempo party rocker with a prominent bassline and irresistible dance beat. Let’s go go!! It appeared in 2002 on the “Yeahvolution!” album on the White Jazz label. Listen to it here:
