On this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, September 9, 8-10pm) host Scott Gardner celebrates the party sounds of three by featuring some of his favorite tunes from the years 1973, 1983, 1993, 2003, 2013 and 2023. Some featured artists include Roxy Music, Bay City Rollers, Minutemen, Devo, Gomez, Franz Ferdinand, Limiñanas, and more. He will also be offering a special Devo inspired t-shirt (see image) as a thank-you gift for listeners who pledge during the show.
DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): British poet, artist, and musician Sexton Ming collaborated on several occasions with Billy Childish and other musicians of the 90s Medway scene. In 1994 Damaged Goods released the 7”EP, “Thee Headcoats with Sexton Ming,” a collection of four songs that included not only Thee Headcoats, but also Kyra De Coninick (AKA Kyra Rubella) of Thee Headcoatees. “No One” is a straightforward rocking cover the Johnny Moped song with the Headcoats’ classic sledgehammer sound backing Ming’s growling vocals.
