Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, February 18, 8-10pm) include Serge Gainsbourg, Love, Sisters, Plastic Bertrand, Stranglers, Jags, Oingo Boingo, XTC, Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments, Wire, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: The Budgetics, or officially, Sweet Voiced Eddie Cockring and His Royal Budgetics, were a short-lived Belgian garage punk band. They had but a single release, this 1995 EP on Royal Records. It came in translucent blue vinyl and featured cover art by an artist credited simply as “Bean.” Click on image to enlarge.

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): Clinic, an alt rock band from Liverpool, have been performing since the mid 90s with a seven-year hiatus during the 2010s. They are known for performing on stage dressed in surgical masks and outfits. “The Return of Evil Bill” is a brooding, moderately up tempo tune with a haunting melody and interesting guitar and keyboards (is that a melodica?). It appeared in 2000 on “The Return Of Evil Bill” EP on Domino Records as well as the “Internal Wrangler” album, also on Domino. Listen to it here:
