Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, November 5, 8-10pm) include Tomorrow, Halfnelson (Sparks), Iggy and the Stooges, XTC, Salford Jets, Revillos, Primal Scream, Rogers Sisters, lots of new music, as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: After reforming in 1972, the Stooges, under the moniker Iggy and the Stooges, recorded their third full-length album “Raw Power.” It was released in February of 1973 on Columbia Records. A commercial failure at the time, and criticized for David Bowie’s mix of the album, it has become one of the most influential albums of the 70s. The front cover featured a photo of Iggy Pop by rock photographer Mick Rock. The original UK release on CBS did not credit Iggy and the Stooges or include the album title on the cover. DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): Larry and the Lefthanded were a Finnish garage band active throughout the 90s. They blended garage with some surf and a bit of sci-fi and had a prominent keyboard in the mix. “Kilimanjaro” is a roughhewn organ heavy instrumental romp that must have been very fun live. It appeared in 1994 on the “From 0˚-20˚ to 40˚-116˚ and Back With” EP on Trash can Records. Listen to it here:
