DJ Izdee founded the *New Kids on the Block* collective as a launchpad for KOOP Radio’s newest programmers, providing a space for emerging talent to grow and thrive. With an eclectic taste and a deep appreciation for hidden gems, she finds joy in sharing a thoughtfully curated playlist as a means of connection. For DJ Izdee, music isn’t just about sound; it’s about storytelling, discovery, and building community. She is passionate about fostering the growth of fellow programmers, helping them find their voice while creating meaningful experiences for listeners.

In an era of endless scroll and algorithm-fed playlists, DJ Julo brings people together the old-school way—one record at a time, one song at a time. Spinning vinyl is a slow, thoughtful revolt against days spent staring at screens. It’s about presence, purpose, and the joy of analog sound. She loves the ritual: the weight of a record in her hands, the worn edges of a sleeve, the precise drop of the needle, and the warm crackle of a scratchy 45. For DJ Julo, sharing music is an invitation. Each set, which might include weird B-sides, global treasures, and beloved pop gems, is compiled with love and intention. It’s a rebellion against passive listening and a call to participate in a collective music experience.

DJ Cool Kel (he/his) has lived in Austin for nearly 30 years and has been listening to KOOP radio for most of that time. When he was 12 years old, his older brother gave him a copy of the cheap CD compilation “Punk-O-Rama, Vol. 2”, an event that caused Cool Kel to want to know everything about all seventeen bands on that disc. This was the beginning of Cool Kel sucking up musical information like a vacuum. He loves all musics, from Ambient to Zeuhl, and is pretty sure that “Aja” by Steely Dan is the most perfect musical recording ever produced. All that said, Cool Kel never gets tired of music that is hard, heavy, fast, and fun. It all started with a punk CD, and it always circles back to that. Cool Kel is proud he finally stopped procrastinating and is now contributing to the radio station he loves as a sustaining supporter, a volunteer, and a DJ. He hopes you will do the same.
