Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021 is World Radio Day! In honor of cultural shifts around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event’s theme this year is “New World, New Radio: Evolution, Innovation, Connection.”
KOOP’s Community Council includes World Radio Day in its annual celebration events, which bring awareness to historically and culturally significant dates in diverse global communities.
Established by UNESCO on the anniversary of the day that the United Nations Radio was established in 1946, World Radio Day is an advocacy and education tool. It explores the ways radio reaches diverse communities all over the world and has the potential to serve as a resource for community engagement, liberation, and global justice.
How do you listen to the radio?
Has radio changed your life in some way?
How have you seen radio used around your community or around the world?
