COVER ART OF THE WEEK: Pink Lady Monster are a Denver based band that specializes in diverse mutant pop and no wave tunes. Formed in early 2020 as a solo project by Simone Fohrman, the full band took shape in 2024. Their second and most recent album, the self-released “Ponk,” came out in early July of this year and features cover art by Fohrman and bandmate Savanna Johnson. You can find out more about them at their Bandcamp page: https://pinkladymonster.bandcamp.com/.

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): The Spits are a long-time low budget punk band, or as they like to say, “punk for the people.” Formed in 1993 in Kalamazoo, MI, they relocated to Seattle where they have been ever since. They have released six albums, all self-titled, and numerous singles. “Cha Cha Love” is a catchy, grimy slab of three chord punk with nice touches of synth and an economic guitar break. Fun tune. It appeared in 2003 on the self-titled third album (AKA 3) on Dirtnap Records. Listen to it here:
