Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, January 18, 8-10pm) include New Colony Six, Golliwogs, France Gall, Jook, Bodysnatchers, Jane Aire and the Belvederes, Suzanne Fellini, Ideal, Peglegasus, KaitO, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: Ideal were one of the more popular German New Wave (Neue Deutsche Welle) bands in the early 80s. They formed in 1980 in Berlin and split up in 1983 after releasing four albums and several singles. Their second album, “Der Ernst des Lebens” (The Severity of Life) featured cover art by visual artist Bettina Sefkow, who also did the artwork for the first album. It was released in 1981 on the Eitel Imperial and WEA record labels.

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): The Embrooks are a garage rock band from London that formed in 1996, split up in 2005 before reforming again in 2015. “Helen,” is an über catchy, slathered in delicious reverb, bouncy slab of Swinging London freakbeat that would be perfect for your next psychedelic dance party. It appeared in 2000 on their “Our New Day” album on Voxx Records. Listen to it here:
