Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, September 28, 8-10pm) include Fapardokly, Creation, Jet, Standing Waves, Mi-Sex, Xmal Deutschland, Hazel O’Connor, Replacements, Bobbyteens, April March, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: The Bobbyteens were a 90s garage rock and roll band with a sound inspired by Nikki and the Corvettes. Based in South City, CA they were active in the late 90s and early 00s and released three albums and several singles. Their 1999 “Treat Her Right” single on the Screaming Apple label featured photos by Darin Rafaelli and cover art by lead vocalist Tina Lucchesi. (Click on image to enlarge)

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): Thee Headcoatees were a British all-female vocal group that were usually backed up by garage stalwarts Thee Headcoats. Formed in 1991 they went on to release several albums and singles until their break-up in 1999. “Ballad of the Insolent Pup” is a Billy Childish penned fuzzed out reverb drenched scorcher with vocals delivered with alpha female swagger. It appeared in 1995 as a single on Vinyl Japan Records. A different version appeared the year before on the “Ballad of the Insolent Pup” album, also on Vinyl Japan. Listen to it here:
