September 17th has been proclaimed by Austin Mayor Kirk Watson as KOOP Radio Day. You read correctly… 9/17 is 91.7 Day! As Austin’s Community Radio, KOOP has been committed to advocating for a broad spectrum of social justice issues, including civil rights, gender equality, LGBTQIA+ rights, and disability rights, for 30 years.
To have the station recognized by the city for our dedication to diverse, quality, and educational music and news programming is nothing short of phenomenal.
We added it up and broadcasting like we have for 30 years is over 150,000 hours of radio that’s been as unique and, let’s face it, as weird as Austin’s been for the same time. We share this honor with our dedicated volunteers, supporters, and you, the listener. Now’s a great time to donate because without you, there is no KOOP Radio, much less a KOOP Radio Day.
