COVER ART OF THE WEEK: F-Systems were one of the many punk and new wave bands that burst onto the Austin music scene in the late 70s. Founded by musician and writer Neil Ruttenberg, they lasted from 1979 until disbanding in 1982. Their only release, a single on Classified Records, came out in 1980 and featured artwork by vocalist Lorenda Ash. The back cover included a photo of the band by David Fox. DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): Opération S were a new wave punk band from Paris that were active in the early and mid 00s. They were fronted by vocalist Cécilia Meneau who was in two previous Dusty Diamond bands the No-Talents and Cécilia et ses Ennuis. “Je Suis Une Illusion” is a bouncy punker with crunchy guitar backing Meneau’s Edith Nylon styled vocals. It appeared in 2003 on their only full-length album, a self-titled release on Broken Rekkids. Listen to it here:
