COVER ART OF THE WEEK: The Shades were an Austin new wave punk band active from the late 70s up until the mid 80s. Their second of three releases, the “Ward & June Never Understood…” mini-LP, was released in 1980 on Ray Gun Records. DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): The Makers, a garage rock band from Spokane WA, make their second appearance as a Dusty Diamond. Their 1998 album “Psychopathia Sexualis” on Estrus Records marked a move toward a beefier sound for the band, more rock, a little less garage. “Deliver Your Disease,” a fuzz drenched amp melting pounder, captures the energy and power of their live performances.
