Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday,
November 6, 8-10pm) include Neil Ford and the Fanatics, Zakary Thaks, Eyes,
Television, Jet, Pere Ubu, Wire, Plastic Idols, Kleenex, Stereolab, lots of new
music, as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

PICTURE SLEEVE OF THE WEEK: Delta were an art wave band from Austin
that had but one release, a 1981 single on Classified Records. It came in two
versions, a traditional square sleeve, and this one, a triangular sleeve (you know,
like the delta symbol). Both used the same Spirograph like design by one of the
band’s synth players, Gene Menger. Click on image to enlarge.

LAST WEEK’S DUSTY DIAMOND (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): The
Panasonics were a short-lived instrumental band featuring the twin guitars of
Eddie Angel of the Neanderthals, and more prominently, Takashi Manabe (AKA
Mr. Pan) of the Neatbeats. They had but two releases, a single in 1995 and the
10″ “Introducing the Inscrutable Panasonics” album from the around the same
time. Both came out on No Hit Records. “Pancake” is a super spunky, super
twangy garage beat number that’s sure to get the kids out on to the dance floor. It
was recorded by Liam Watson at Toe Rag Studios in London and appeared on
the 10″ release. Listen to it here:
