Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, July 25, 8-10pm) include L7 (RIP Jennifer Finch), Wimple Winch, Bonnie St. Claire and Unit Gloria, Hubble Bubble, Killing Joke, Los Microwaves, Scientists, Anna Oxygen, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.
COVER ART OF THE WEEK: The Decibels are a power pop / pop punk band from Sacramento. Formed in the mid 90s they have released several albums including one as recently as 2024. Their very first album, “Create Action!,” was released in 1998 on G.I. Productions (CD) and Screaming Apple (vinyl). It featured cover art and design by Stephan Britt and photography by Lynne Seavers.

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): Nothing People were an indie punk/rock band from the northern California town of Orland. They blended influences like Hawkwind, Roxy Music, Twinkeyz and Chrome into their music resulting in a diverse, at times heavy sound. While they released several album and singles from 2004 through 2013, they rarely strayed from their home in Orland. “Twinkie Defense” is a driving slab of sonic proto-punk with some blistering guitar. I’m hearing some Jesse Hector (Crushed Butler, Hammersmith Gorillas) here, and that’s a good thing. It appeared in 2006 on a 7” EP on S-S Records. Listen to it here:
