Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, July 18, 8-10pm) include the the Byrds, Bernie Tormé Band, Bongos, Standing Waves, 23 Skidoo, 100 Flowers, Algebra Suicide, New Luck Toy (RIP Kellie Payne), Raveonettes, New Pornographers, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.
COVER ART OF THE WEEK: La Sécurité, super fun punk wavers from Montreal, just dropped their second album, “Bingo!,” in June. Co-released by the Mothland and Bella Union labels it comes in three different vinyl editions, black, pickle splatter and this limited “bubblegum slushie” edition. It also includes a foldout with lyrics. The artwork for the cover and insert were done by bandmember Melissa Di Menna, and the headshot photos on the back cover by Kristin Sollecito. All in all, a very cool package to go with a great album!

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): Six Finger Satellite are an electro post-punk band from Providence, RI. Formed in 1989 they disbanded in 2001 and then reformed with a slightly different line-up in 2008. They are still recording and performing live. “Massive Cocaine Seizure” is an intense post-punk banger with Gang of Four guitar riffing, pissed off vocals, and a surprisingly danceable beat. It appeared on a 1996 single on Sub Pop Records. Listen to it here:
