Throughout the 2000s, countless buzzworthy bands flooded New York City bars and clubs with their unique aesthetic and sound, which established the city as an  epicenter of indie rock. While Indie music was anchored in New York City in the early 2000’s, another music scene was blossoming north of the border around the same time. The Toronto music scene at the turn of the 21st century formed a community that continues to thrive nearly three decades later. The All The Feelings tour showcased this community with bands including, Stars, Broken Social Scene, and Metric. The tour kicked off in Austin at the Moody Amphitheater on Monday June 8, 2026.

The tour is a culmination of three bands in  collaboration with rotating members that grew up together in Toronto. The tourmates consider each other family.  “All The Feelings Tour” is described in YouTube by Live Nation as: not so much as a comeback, but a reunion.

Stars

Stars opened the show. This  band has spent the better part of a quarter century cultivating a sound that blends somber melodies with catchy hooks. The crowd was treated with a wave of sound that took up the entire stage. Audience members were not just listening to a performance, they were enveloped in the experience. Stars’ vibe felt like the climax of a coming-of-age film with a wave of emotion in every note. .

Broken Social Scene

Broken Social Scene followed with their brand of atmospheric instrumentation interspersed vocals.  I was reminded of a jam band–one that falls in love with a melody and plays it over and over, but is able to keep it fresh. The performance featured the live debut of : “Paying for Your Love.” It was so new to the setlist, that frontman Kevin Drew had to restart when he realized he forgot his capo.

The band is a collective of rotating members,  reminiscent of a line change in hockey.  The various rosters include  some of the most talented people in Canada, including Leslie Feist of Feist and Lisa Lopsinger of Reverie Sound Revue, and “All the Feelings” tourmates Amy Milan of Stars and Emily Haines of Metric. The latter two joined the band for performances of “Hey Amanda” and the dreamy “Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl.”

Metric

Metric took the stage just as the sun set.  The band’s light display always matches the aura of their music, and this night was no exception. The band opened up the set with the single, “Victim of Luck” off their tenth and most recent album Romanticize the Dive. The set provided a retrospect of their decades-long discography as they mixed recent material with older songs.  They were joined by members of both Broken Social Scene and Stars for the live debut of the song “Loyal.”

Metric closed out their set with their first major hit “Combat Baby.”  The song sounded  as great now as it did 20 years ago. After a short break, the band brought the show to an end with an encore that included: “Help, I’m Alive” and the generation-defining “Black Sheep.” It’s no surprise that Metric ended their show with their most popular song. t Not only a radio staple, the song is best known  from the movie Scott Pilgrim vs the World.  The movie is a touchstone for millennial culture, which    pays homage to the Toronto music scene–a perfect closing..  The entire show was a perfect kickoff to the “All the Feelings Tour.”
