Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, November 29, 8-10pm) include Oscar and the Majestics, Suzi Quatro, Boomtown Rats, Hazel O’Connor, Boys, Jesus and Mary Chain, Delmonas, Fall-Outs, Prambath, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.
COVER ART OF THE WEEK: Supercharger were a lo-fi garage rock band from South San Francisco. Active from 1991 until 1993 they were, along with The Mummies, part of the first wave of 90s garage bands. Their first album, a self-titled release, appeared in 1991 on the Radio X label in an edition of 500 copies. It soon became a much sought after record (a Holy Grail, if you will) for 90s garage-niks like myself. The cover features uncredited artwork with a DIY aesthetic that perfectly matches the lo-fi production values of the record. (Click on image to enlarge.)

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): The Sin City Disciples were a garage rock band from Kansas City, MO. Active from 1986 until 1992 they released two studio albums and several singles. “Go Work” is a scorching slab of manic garage rawk with searing guitars and some tasty psych effects. Quite the sweaty workout. It appeared on their very last studio release, the 1992 “Go Work!” single on Fist Puppet Records. Listen to it here:
