Celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act

KOOP is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which was signed into law 35 years ago on July 26, 1990. The ADA represents a defining moment in US civil rights history that was meant to end discrimination against individuals with disabilities

The anniversary serves multiple purposes: it recognizes the progress made in accessibility and inclusion over the past 35 years, honors the advocacy and struggles of the disability rights movement that led to the law’s passage, and provides an opportunity to educate the public about disability rights and the ongoing work needed to achieve full inclusion.

The anniversary also serves as a reminder that while significant progress has been made, there’s still work to be done to ensure the ADA’s promise of equal opportunity and full participation is realized for all people with disabilities. Click here to learn more about the ADA.
