Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, May 24, 8-10pm) include Stone, Jet, Sham 69, Virna Lindt, Helios Creed, Original Sins, Lush, Makers, Tralala, Nots, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.
COVER ART OF THE WEEK: The Ideals were an Austin punk band that was active in the early 80s. They included Davy Jones and brothers Richard and Arthur Hays who went on to form The Hickoids with Jeff Smith in 1984. In 1982 they released the “High Art” EP which consisted of four songs culled from a September 1980 live show at Raul’s Club. It was released on Wow! Records and had two different sleeve versions including this limited xeroxed and hand-colored edition. DIY baby!

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): Les Sexareenos, a garage rock and roll band from the Montreal area, make their second appearance as a Dusty Diamond. They were active from 1999 until disbanding in 2002 and released two albums and several singles. “The Way That You Work” is a rollicking frat rock dancer with prominent keyboards and a smoking guitar break. Classic STD party tune. It appeared in 2001 on the “Out to Sea” EP as well as the “14 Frenzied Shakers” album, both on Sympathy for the Record Industry. Listen to it here:
