Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, March 15, 8-10pm) include Blues Magoos, Ricky Wilde, Dils, Wreckless Eric, Siouxsie and the Banshees, John Cooper Clarke, Barracudas, Elastica, Mooney Suzuki, Nun, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: Ursula and the Androids was a project of Seattle punk drag queen Ursula Android (Marcus Wilson) and Ross Marshall of the Cripples. They performed regularly in the early 00s at Pho Bang (AKA Faux Bang), a weekly drag/punk/performance/dance party put on by Ursula and fellow drag queen Jackie Hell (David Latimer). They recorded two songs for a 7” split EP with Jackie (Hell) and the Control Tops which appeared in 2002 on Dirtnap Records. The cover art is uncredited.

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): Maow were a short-lived mid 90s indie garage punk band from Vancouver that included Neko Case on vocals and drums. Originally named Meow, they changed to Maow after objections from a NY band of the same name. They released an EP as Meow and an album as Maow. Ms. Lefevre is a bouncy uptempo bit of indie garage with Case on vocals. It appeared in 1996 on the “Unforgiving Sounds of… Maow” album on Mint Records. Listen to (and watch) it here:
