On this this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, March 8, 8-10pm) Scott will be celebrating International Women’s Day with an episode showcasing all female artists and female voiced bands. Some featured artists include the Pleasure Seekers, Glo Macari, Girls at Our Best, Altered Images, Headcoatees, Habibi, Human Toys, Nots, Palberta, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.
COVER ART OF THE WEEK: The Nots were an all-female garage punk band from Memphis that included Natalie Hoffman of Optic Sink. They were active in the mid to late 10’s, releasing several albums and singles. Their 2015 “Virgin Mary” single on Goner Records featured a painting by visual artist and band keyboardist Alexandra Eastburn and a design by Hoffman.

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): The Devil Dogs were a high-octane garage punk trio from NYC. Beginning as the Rat Bastards before mutating into the DDs, they were active from 1989 until they disbanded in 1994. “Radiobeat” is a fun, high energy romp with a heavy bassline, sledgehammer drumming, and tasty guitar riffing. A classic dance party tune with a live recording sound. One of my faves. It appeared in 1994 on the “Choad Blast!” EP on Empty Records. Listen to it here:
