March 31 is International Transgender Day of Visibility, celebrating the resilience and hopefulness of trans and non-binary people everywhere by elevating voices and experiences from these communities all over the world.
It is estimated that there are 3.3 million transgender adults across the US alone. Many trans and non-binary people want to blend into the larger community. They are co-workers, neighbors, friends, and family members from all cultures and faith traditions.
Although significant progress has been made in recent years, archaic laws are threatening safety, by encouraging discrimination and even violence. KOOP 91.7 FM celebrates and advocates for the transgender and non-binary Austin community all year round. On March 31, 2025, Writing and the Air’s guest is Cid Bullens. We will also share clips from other community members.
