Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, February 15, 8-10pm) include Faine Jade, Modern Lovers, Adverts, Romantics, Lester Bangs and the Delinquents, Dogs, Shonen Knife, Tweezers, Anna Oxygen, Protomartyr, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: In the fall of 1980 gonzo rock journalist Lester Bangs lived and partied for four months in Austin. He teamed up with local new wave band the Delinquents and played several live gigs including opening for Talking Heads at the Armadillo World Headquarters on November 21, 1980. They recorded the album “Jook Savages on the Brazos,” which was released in 1981 on bass player Brian Curley’s Live Wire label. The cover featured an illustration, “Woman in Anguish,” by Annantes and design by Fran Pelzman.

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): The Swingin’ Neckbreakers were a New Jersey garage rock trio that were active from 1993 all the way to the late 00s. In that time, they released numerous albums and singles, mostly on the New Jersey based Telstar label. “I’m in Love with Me” is a straight ahead garage rocker with hooks and a tight guitar break to back humorous, presumably ironic lyrics. It appeared on the 1995 “Shake Break!” album on Telstar. Listen to it here:
