Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, November 30, 8-10pm) include the Troggs, Iggy and the Stooges, Hollywood Brats, Young Marble Giants, Big Boys, Trio, Sugar Shack, Causey Way, Ugly Beats, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: Austin’s iconic punk band The Big Boys recorded their first full length studio album with the help of David Bean of The Judy’s. Released in 1981 on the Judy’s’ Wasted Talent label, it featured front cover art by guitarist Tim Kerr and a back cover design by bassist Chris Gates along with photos by Bill Daniels and Beth Kerr. This copy included two inserts, one a photocopy and the other a paperboard that featured “doodles” by various Austin punk luminaries including Gary Floyd, David Yow, Terri Lord, Mike Carroll, and more. DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): The FM Knives were a short-lived garage punk band from Sacramento. They were active in the early 00s and released one album and two singles. “T.V. Light” is a poppy punky romp with über catchy riffing, crisp drumming and excellent guitar licks. It appeared on the 2002 “Useless & Modern” album on Broken Rekids. Listen to it here:
