Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, October 19, 8-10pm) include the Troggs, Trems (Tremeloes), Brian Eno, Wipers, Redd Kross, Pink Lincolns, Elastica, Drags, Stretford, Ugly Beats, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: “Before and After Science” was Brian Eno’s fifth and last rock album before he began to concentrate more on avant-garde and ambient music. It was also the first of his albums to use his full name as opposed to just “Eno.” Released in December 1977 on Polydor in the UK and on Island in the US, it featured a cover photograph of Eno by Ritva Saarikko along with design by Eno and artwork by the Dutch design company Cream. The first pressings included four offset prints by Berlin born English artist Peter Schmidt. (Click on image to enlarge)

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): Stereo Total were a multilingual and eclectic indie rock band based in Berlin. Throughout their long and prolific run from the mid 90s through the late 10s they featured the talented French-German duo Françoise Cactus and Brezel Göring. Cactus (real name Françoise van Hove) died in 2021 at the age of 56 from breast cancer. “LA, CA, USA” is a fun up-tempo garage rocker with Cactus singing in German. It appeared in 1997 on the “Monokini” album on Bungalow Records. Listen to it here:
