From a macro level, it doesn’t seem like Incubus and Coheed and Cambria would be the kind of bands to tour together. Other than being great names for characters in a Dungeons and Dragons campaign, they don’t share a lot in common. Over the past three decades, Incubus has evolved from a teenage funk-metal band to an arena rock legacy band that still packs stadiums. Coheed and Cambria has spent that same time working their way through Warped Tours and mid-size venues perfecting their brand of progressive metal through the lens of comic books and pop punk chords. On a deeper level, you’d be hard-pressed to find a CD binder or Winamp playlist in 2004 that didn’t feature one of these bands without the other. If those things sound familiar, then chances are you were at The Moody Center on September 7 as both bands made a pit stop for Incubus’ “Morning View” tour.
