Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, April 13, 8-10pm) include the Accent, Bonnie St. Claire, Chicory Tip, English Beat, Soft Boys, Dolly Mixture, Dream Syndicate, Clearlake, Ty Segall, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: Clearlake were an indie rock band from Brighton England and were active from the late 90s until they disbanded in 2009. In that time, they released three albums and several singles. Their brilliant 2002 album “Cedars” on Domino Records spawned several singles including “Come into the Darkness” b/w “The Mind Is Evil.” It was released in 2003, also on Domino, and featured a cover design by Matthew Cooper and photography by Jason Evans. DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a vintage gem from the STD vaults): The Fall-Outs, a seminal garage band from Seattle, remain one of my favorites from the 80s and 90s. They released a cassette album in 1986, but it wasn’t until the 90s that they received more attention through releases on the Estrus and Super Electro labels. In 1991 Estrus released the “Don’t Want the Sun” EP, a collection of three songs that had been recorded in 1988. The titular song is an up-tempo burst of blistering guitar, loping bass and anguished vocals, in other words, classic Fall-Outs.  Listen to it here:
