Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, November 4, 8-10pm) include the Daily Flash, Fancy, the Quick, Radio Birdman, Joe “King” Carrasco, Expressos, Screaming Blue Messiahs, Leather Uppers, lots of new music as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: The Neon Kittens are a post-punk no wave tinged trio based in York (U.K.) who have several releases over the last year or so, including many on the Australian label Metal Postcard Records. Bassist and guitarist Andy Goz, graphic artist by profession, creates the cover art for all the band’s releases as well as for his other two bands Legless Trials and Salem Trials. “Nine Doesn’t Work for an Outside Line,” their first full-length album, was just released on Metal Postcard and includes front and back cover art by Goz. DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): Aavikko is a Finnish synth alt instrumental rock band that has been around since 1995. Their sound is a mix of Kraftwerk, camp soundtrack themes and energetic dance beats, and always fun. “New York-London-Siilinjärvi-Tokyo” (Siilinjärvi is their hometown) has a dance-y spy movie vibe, and as with all their music, excellent keyboards. It appeared in 2000 on their “Multi Muysic” album on the Hawaii Sounds label. Listen to it here:
