COVER ART OF THE WEEK: Broncho are an indie rock band from Norman, OK, and have been active since 2010. Since then, they have released several albums and singles. Their 2014 “It’s On” single on CQ Records came in a pressing of 300 copies and featured cover art by artist and graphic designer Denny Schmickle. Click on image to enlarge.
DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): Slick Surface and His Ladykillers were a garage rockabilly from Victoria, Texas. There’s very little information about them out there, but it appears they had just a couple releases in the mid 90s. Their cover of Hank Williams’ classic “Hey Good Lookin’” begins with some horror flick sounds, then gallops along with some interesting, psychedelic guitar effects. It appeared in 1995 on Sick Records. Listen to it here:
