Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, November 26, 8-10pm) include the Strawberry Alarm Clock, Ohio Express, Please, Bonnie St. Claire, Buzzcocks, Public Image Ltd. (RIP Keith Levene), Virna Lindt, Fall-Outs, Pulses, lots of new music, as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: The Pulses were a garage punk band from Seattle, and were active in the early to mid 00s, releasing a couple albums and an EP. Bass player, vocalist and artist Shannon McConnell provided the artwork for all their releases, including this one, the 10” “Little Brothers” EP. It was released in 2003 on Dirtnap Records and included front cover artwork by McConnell as well as a band photo on the back by Lloyd Archer. You can see some of McConnell’s here: http://www.shannonmcconnell.com/ Click image to enlarge.

DUSTY DIAMOND OF THE WEEK (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): The Gospel Swingers were a blues-tinged garage rock band from Dallas who included members of Blacktop, Fireworks, and the Now Time Delegation. They were active in the early 00s and released a single and an album, both recorded at Sweatbox Studio in Austin. “Los Muertos” is a bluesy groover featuring soulful vocals by singer and harmonica player Quincy Holloway. It appeared in 2000 on the “Mississippi” single on In the Red Records. Listen to it here:
