September 15th marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month here in the States. Its start in the middle of one month and its spanning halfway into the next makes this particular heritage month unique from most others, but it was by design. Once Hispanic Heritage Week became Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15th remained the start date to recognize that 9/15 and the next few days served as anniversaries for many Spanish-speaking countries in the Americas winning independence from Spain.
From rock to pop to jazz and more, musicians of Hispanic descent have played a vital role in almost every genre enjoyed in nearly every part of the world and continue to inspire new generations of musicians and performers. This one-seven playlist features some of the many performers of Hispanic descent who were born in Texas or have called/now call Texas home.
