Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, August 27, 8-10pm) include One in a Million, Liz Brady, Units, Squeeze, Prisoners, Angry Samoans, Teengenerate, KaitO, Long Blondes, lots of new music, as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

COVER ART OF THE WEEK: Coop (real name Chris Cooper) makes his second appearance as cover artist of the week. His cover for Teengenerate’s “Sex Cow” single is peak 90s garage, with a hotrod theme in the style of 60s artist Ed “Big Daddy” Roth. It appeared in 1993 on Estrus Records. Click on image to enlarge. LAST WEEK’S DUSTY DIAMOND (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): The Causey Way were a band with a garage-y synth-y alt punk sound to go with an evangelistic cult group persona and message. They were active from 1998-2001. Their faux philosophy (i.e., music lyrics) was based on the teachings of Causey, a mysterious figure with a strong David Koresh/Branch Davidian vibe (and look). Among others, the band included Brian Teasley (Man or Astro-Man? and Servotron) and actress Summer Phoenix. “Personal Hygiene” is an uptempo synth romp and captures the energy of their excellent live shows. It appeared in 2000 on the Testimony EP on the Furled by Ramen label. Listen to it here:
