This week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, December 25, 8-10pm) will be my annual “Non Christmas Christmas Special,” and will feature two hours of non Christmas party tunes, including songs by Lulu, Mud, Pere Ubu, Nikki and the Corvettes, the Clean, Bongos, Night Kings, Prissteens, Ladytron, Giuda, as well as lots of new music, and the weekly Dusty Diamond.
PICTURE SLEEVE OF THE WEEK: Henriette Coulouvrat is a French new wave vocalist who had several releases in the 80s and 90s. Her first release, the “Rockin’ on the Red Book / Paddy Field” single is edgy synth pop with Chinese cultural and faux musical overtones. (Both songs begin with a gong sound.) It appeared in 1979 in Europe on three different labels with three different sleeves. This is the French pressing on the MM record label, and features artwork by H. Taffin. Click on image to enlarge.
