Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, December 4, 8-10pm) include the Sonics, XTC, Bruce Wooley and the Camera Club, Love Batery, Kelley Stoltz, Jacuzzi Boys, some German new wave, funky Euro party rock, Beijing psych, lots of new music, as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

PICTURE SLEEVE OF THE WEEK: Nicky Bulldog was an Italian band (most likely studio concocted) that had but two releases, including this 1976 single with two killer songs. “Chewingum Rock,” a hand clapping, foot stomping piece of glam rock and roll, was the theme for an Italian radio show called Supersonic. “Dog Power Song” is funky euro party rock with interesting production flourishes. The single was released on Grog Records, and featured variations of the same uncredited artwork on different pressings throughout Europe. This is the Spanish pressing. Click image to enlarge.

LAST WEEK’S DUSTY DIAMOND (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): The Devil Dogs, a smoking garage punk rock band from NYC, were active from 1989 to 1994, releasing several albums and singles. “Once Around the Block” is a blistering burst of party garage rock and roll that never lets up. It appeared in 1993 on the “Saturday Night Fever” album on Crypt Records, and was produced by Kurt Bloch of the Fastbacks and Young Fresh Fellows. Listen to it here:
