Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday,
October 30, 8-10pm) include Judy Carne, Lemming (see pic sleeve), Dickies,
Tubeway Army, Honey Bane, Thee Mighty Caesars, Kelley Stoltz, M.O.T.O.,
Cheveu, Maxines, lots of new music, as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

PICTURE SLEEVE OF THE WEEK: This week’s pic sleeve is another time
capsule nugget from the 70s. Lemming were a Dutch band that specialized in a
type of music sometimes referred to as horror glam. Their songs often had
Gothic themes, and their stage performances included a female “vampire”
dancer (see video below). They had several hits in the Netherlands in the mid
70s, including the 1973 single “Lucifera” on Polydor Records. The cover
photograph is uncredited.

LAST WEEK’S DUSTY DIAMOND (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): Slant
6 were an indie punk rock band out of Washington D.C. that were often
associated with the riot grrrl movement of the 90s. They were active between
1992 and 1995, and released two albums and a two singles. “Soda Pop-Rip Off”
is a high energy post punk gem with a nice mix of angst and melody. It appeared
in 1994 on the album of the same name on Dischord Records. Listen to it here:
