Some FEATURED ARTISTS on this week’s LIVE Stronger Than Dirt (Saturday, September 4, 8-10pm) include We the People, Equals (see promo), Catapult, Rockets (pic sleeve of the week), Revelons, Go-Go’s, 20/20, Polyrock, Leather Uppers, new music by Spllit (Baton Rouge), Golf Dolls (Madison WI), Fun Time Objects (NYC) and Fashion Pimps and the Glamazons (Cleveland), as well as the weekly Dusty Diamond.

PICTURE SLEEVE OF THE WEEK: This week’s pic sleeve could only come from one decade, the 70s. The Rockets were a French band of the 70s and 80s that mixed space rock, glam, and disco. They performed on stage as bald aliens, wearing space suits and painted in silver. The “Samouraï Hymne Du Karaté” single was their first release, and appeared in 1976 on Decca. This is a Spanish pressing.

LAST WEEK’S DUSTY DIAMOND (a forgotten gem from the STD vaults): Hailing from Bordeaux, the TV Killers were part of a fertile French garage punk scene in the 90s. They were quite prolific, releasing four albums and several singles between 1995 and 2001. “Cette Fille Au Bar” is a fast and furious gem with some sweet guitar work, along with French lyrics, presumably about a young lady at a bar. It appeared in 1996 on the “Channel 666″ 10” mini album on Royal Records. Listen to it here:
