This week on Civil Rights and Wrongs we’ll be talking about the US Constitution. Does it still serve the nation? What inherent flaws did the framers build into its articles? And why is there little hope of fixing them? Our guest is Sanford Levinson, a professor in both the School of Law and the Department of Government at the University of Texas at Austin for almost 40 years. He has authored, edited and co-written numerous books, articles and journals over the course of his extensive career as an accomplished scholar of the United States government and its constitution.
We will also hear from Austin Sanders, staff writer for the Austin Chronicle, regarding the city budget that was approved last Thursday by Austin City Council. The focus will be the APD portion, which was approximately 40% of the entire budget last year. Cuts and proposed organizational changes could result in a reduction of as much as $150M for fiscal year 2020-21.
