The Community Pilot Show
C/O KOOP Radio
PO Box 4089, Austin, TX 78765
The Community Pilot Show in an open format half hour opportunity for our Programmers to experiment with new or different material, our Volunteers to move behind the mic’s and our Apprentices to perform their Demo. It is also a more inclusive iteration of the original Pilot Show in that it allows for our Listeners and Community to participate on the air, literally giving voice to our community. In addition, the show regularly features local individuals and organizations that are doing good in our community.
Prior to Volunteering at KOOP I was a Volunteer at WPFW, the Pacifica affiliate in Washington DC. My work there was behind the scenes for the most part but with the same purpose that I volunteer at KOOP; to provide a greater voice for the disenfranchised. Since starting with a cover music show at KOOP I have moved into News and Public Affairs programming through Reflections of Community Outreach, ROCO, and the Community Pilot Shows.
The Rush Guy’s constant companion on Off The Beatles Path, Brandon Rummel, takes the controls for the last Community Pilot Show. He has dug deep into the sounds of the British invasion from the early sixties to get us singing and dancing in our quarantine.
