“Chicon,” the latest single from The Stacks, brings some needed positivity to an otherwise grim picture of Austin during lockdown last year. The accompanying music video features the band’s singer and guitarist, Jake Ames, dancing around the neon lit Austin streets in the middle of the night without another soul in sight. With its catchy riffs and reverb-drenched solos, the track offers a feeling of joy and jubilation to footage of an empty Austin. “Chicon” acts as an indie rock love letter to the live music capital, even when its future seems uncertain. Highly recommended to listen at full volume while cruising down the empty streets while you still can.
