Calliope Musicals latest EP, Between Us, arrived last month via local indie label, Spaceflight Records. The release blends space age rock and dance floor power pop with four new songs and one remixed version of their 2019 track, “Fear This Body”.
Anthemic choruses and soaring, cathartic high notes from singer Carrie Fussell appear throughout the release, bringing to mind some of the vocal stylings from Prince’s “Purple Rain”. The trash glam music video for the first track, “Can You Tell Me” is as if John Waters directed the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and can be found below.
