Matthew Child Walcutt was a long-time supporter of KOOP Radio. His family has established a Memorial Fund in his name to celebrate his life and benefit KOOP, the community radio station that he loved and supported for many years.
“Matthew had a way of starting a conversation with anyone and diving into information, be it books, art, music, movies or politics. He had a big heart, a love for life and a kind soul. His charm was evident in his distinct bowties, sunglasses or hats. You could find him frequently at AFS watching a movie where he always traveled with his own beer koozie. He rode his bike everywhere and, if not at the cinema or Austin Books & Comics, you could find him at his spot, Lala’s. He enjoyed adventure, the outdoors, never said no to a night cap and was the best person to take on a trip anywhere. In this unprecedented time, now more than ever community radio must stay alive and breathe relief for all of us. We listen daily to keep our spirits up, to soothe our pain and to provide us some comfort—and to bring a smile to our faces in remembrance of our son, our brother, our nephew, our cousin, our dear friend, Matty.”
At KOOP we feel humbled and honored to receive this support in Matthew’s memory. We’ll never forget the kindness and love that Matthew and his family have shown us.
You can make your donations to KOOP here, and be sure to write “for Matthew” if donating to his Memorial Fund.
