COVID-19 update from our Community Council:
The City of Austin recommends that businesses with sit-down customers such as banks, restaurants, and salons collect contact information from customers who receive services in person. You may be asked for your name, phone number, or email address. No one will retain those details for over one month, and businesses will only share them with the city in case a customer or employee tests positive for COVID-19.
Even with social distancing, about 2,000 people across the U.S. are still dying of COVID-19 every day. As of May 14, there are over a million known active cases and about 20,000 new cases per day. The only safe way to prevent the spread of COVID to yourself and your loved ones is through physical distancing, which means staying home and avoiding non-essential activity.
The City of Austin has issued New Risk-Based Guidelines to Help the Community Stay Safe During COVID-19 Pandemic. The color-coded chart from Austin Public Health helps residents understand the five stages of risk—green for the safest and red for the most dangerous—and provides recommendations for staying safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
