On August 21, 1971, George Jackson was assassinated by a prison guard in the notorious San Quentin Prison. Jackson was one of many Black revolutionaries killed by prison guards in the month of August. Today, their contributions are marked by Black August, a month of study and training for the Black liberation struggle. Join KOOP for the entire month of August as we examine the prison-industrial complex and bring attention to political prisoners still being held by the United States.
