The Singer and the Song has a double-header this weekend, with a bonus episode! First up at 2pm is Austin singer/songwriter Emily Shirley, an Austin singer/songwriter with an indie pop sensibility, and then at our usual 3pm time, it's Jana Pochop and Mark Addison, two longtime talents with a great new project together. It's gonna be a great time as we seamlessly hear great music from one act right into the other. People United features poet Amanda Johnston talking about, and performing from, her first full-length collection, Another Way to Say Enter.  A co-founder of Black Poets Speak Out, she is also the author of the chapbooks GUAP and Lock & Key.

KOOP Radio, in partnership with the Alamo Drafthouse, proudly presents a free concert with the Dave Biller Trio on Saturday, September 22nd at 7:30pm at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema at Mueller, 1911 Aldrich Street. The International Folk Bazaar struts its stuff on Wednesday with all chicken-themed songs. Reflections of Community Outreach celebrates Diez y Seis this Monday (Sept. 10 at 1:30 PM) with two special guests. First is Linda Crockett, Event Coordinator for the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center.  The ESB-MACC is dedicated to the preservation, creation, presentation, and promotion of the cultural arts of Mexican Americans and Latino cultures. People United features lawyer and activist Arjun Singh Sethi on his book American Hate: Survivors Speak Out, which argues that the rhetoric and policies of the Trump Administration have encouraged further discrimination, bullying and violence against already marginalized communities.
